This course is to be taken during the first spring semester after declaring 数学 or Applied Discrete 数学 as a major. The study of statistical procedures widely used in the sciences. 主题包括, in addition to those taught in MTH 1150, modeling with probability distributions, 多元回归, 方差分析, 卡方测试, 非参数统计, 和引导. Analysis of data using computer software will relate to the sciences. Special emphasis will be placed on the communication of statistical results from scientific research. 学生 who are doing mathematical related work can apply to have one semester or summer of such work designated as an internship. The student will be required to convince the instructor that he/she will be working in a mathematics related job 而且 will use principles, 实践, 而且 skills learned in mathematics classes in order to enroll. To get credit, the student will submit a paper of reflection on the work 而且 the student’s learning. This reflection paper will be expected to appear in the student’s portfolio required in  MTH 4710高级研讨会 course. This course will be pass/fail 而且 will fulfill the internship category of Experiential Learning of the BELL core.

An axiomatic approach to the study of elementary 几何. Euclidean 几何, non-Euclidean geometries, 而且 finite geometries are examined.
